2025 in Review: A Year of Renewed Commitment

The year 2025 marked renewed commitment and meaningful progress for Türkiye Mozaik Foundation. As we supported civil society across Türkiye, we focused on strengthening local organisations, addressing persistent inequalities, and standing firmly with communities still rebuilding nearly three years after the February 2023 earthquakes. Thanks to your support, we continued advancing our mission to create long-lasting, community-led change.

Grantmaking and Impact at a Glance

This year, our grants powered essential work across Türkiye — from combating gender-based violence and deep poverty affecting women and children, to strengthening independent journalism, protecting wildlife, advancing environmental sustainability, building organisational capacity through digital transformation, and improving conditions for stray animals. So far in 2025, thanks to your generous support, we have awarded over £160,000 to 28 civil society organisations.

A key milestone was the launch of our Sports Giving Circle, a donor-led initiative supporting projects that expand equal and inclusive access to sports. Its first grants helped remove gender barriers in football and sailing, introduced outdoor and team sports to young girls, and provided in-kind support for inclusive sports initiatives — including those in earthquake-affected regions.

Nearly three years after the February 2023 earthquakes, needs in affected regions remain urgent. At a time when many have stepped back, standing by these communities continues to be central to our mission. In 2025, we shared our long-term strategy reaffirming our commitment to local organisations — ensuring their work, and the hope they sustain, can endure.

Guided by this commitment, we launched the 3rd phase of our Regional Recovery Support Program under the Kahramanmaraş Earthquake Emergency Relief Fund, supporting eight local organisations in Hatay. This phase supports eight local organisations in Hatay working across gender equality, inclusive education, psychosocial support, arts and culture, and sustainable livelihoods — strengthening recovery efforts that are long-term, community-led, and grounded in local knowledge.

In response to severe wildfires across multiple provinces in the summer of 2025, we launched the Wildfire Relief and Mitigation Fund to support affected communities. Our grantee partner provided over 900 beehives to families in Ödemiş, İzmir, helping them restart beekeeping, restore income, and rebuild resilience after losing their livelihoods.

We continued our collaboration with the Turquoise Coast Environment Fund through two rounds of grants. One supported projects in earthquake-affected Adana, Hatay, and Mersin, helping protect habitats, strengthen sustainable food systems, and support community recovery. The second round backed four local initiatives working to protect Türkiye’s coastal and marine ecosystems.

Moments of Connection and Collective Action

In February, we took part in Great Minds Meet – Vision 2025: Business, Finance and Engineering, a student-led conference in London connecting Turkish students in the UK with industry leaders, professionals, and academics. Our Co-founder and Trustee, Nilufer Atalay, joined as a guest speaker, sharing Türkiye Mozaik Foundation’s experience in bridging UK donors with impactful civil society initiatives in Türkiye.

In June, Detuned Radio and Alper Yazıcı performed live at DasDasBox London for a benefit concert featuring Turkish and international rock classics. All proceeds supported our work to empower civil society in Türkiye. We thank the artists — including our co-founder Yalın Karadoğan — and DasDasBox London for their generosity.

In June, our supporters also organised the second Çokella Music Fest, a community-led fundraising night featuring amateur performers from across our supporter network, including bands, solo artists, and children’s groups. With all proceeds supporting our work, the festival showed how coming together through music can support civil society in joyful and meaningful ways.

This summer, we revisited Hatay and witnessed resilience and solidarity in action — from women rebuilding cooperatives to young people finding hope through music and art. These three days reaffirmed that civil society is not only rebuilding what was lost, but shaping a more just and hopeful future. Watch the video from our visit to see recovery led by community and hope.

In October, we hosted the London premiere of AŞINMA (CORROSION) by acclaimed actor Yiğit Özşener at Battersea Arts Centre, followed by a panel discussion and Q&A on the power of performance arts to inspire social change. All proceeds supported our Culture and Arts Fund, which expands access to arts and culture in Türkiye.

Later in October, our Co-founder and Trustee Ergem Şenyuva Tohumcu joined a panel following the screening of East to West Mediterranean, exploring the urgent need to protect Türkiye’s endangered seagrass meadows and marine ecosystems.

This year, a team of over 20 Türkiye Mozaik Foundation runners ran the Saucony London 10K and the Royal Parks Half Marathon to raise funds, turning every mile into meaningful support for civil society in Türkiye. To sign up for other events / upcoming sporting activities, please see our website.

Growing Our Reach and Visibility

In 2025, we launched our new website, making it easier to explore our work, learn about the impact you help create, and find ways to get involved.

We continued sharing the stories of our grantee partners through our video series, bringing their work and resilience to wider audiences. Explore these stories on our YouTube channel.

Our social media content reached over 400K people, significantly expanding our reach while highlighting the work of our grantee partners and the generosity of our supporters.
