Announcing Two New Grants for Gender Equality on International Women’s Day

On 8 March 2026, we are proud to announce that our Gender Equality Fund is awarding two new grants to support gender equality in Türkiye.

On 8 March International Women’s Day, we are reminded that rights mean little without access to justice.

This year, the UN Women theme highlights a sobering reality: women and girls worldwide hold only 64% of the legal rights of men. From legal costs to systemic bias, barriers to justice remain high. At Türkiye Mozaik Foundation, we believe justice should never be a privilege — it must be a right.

Across the world, millions of women and girls still face obstacles to safety, information, and equal participation in society. In times of instability, these challenges deepen, and women often carry the heaviest burden.

Yet across Türkiye, women’s organisations and activists continue to build spaces of solidarity, support, and empowerment.

On this International Women’s Day, we are proud to announce two new grants from our Gender Equality Fund, totalling £38,500, supporting the work of:

  • Foundation for Women’s Solidarity (Kadın Dayanışma Vakfı)
  • We Need to Talk Association (Konuşmamız Gerek Derneği)

With these new grants, Türkiye Mozaik Foundation’s support for projects advancing gender equality has reached £1,4 million.

The Foundation for Women’s Solidarity, an independent feminist organisation working since 1993, combats violence against women and gender inequality through counselling, advocacy, and awareness-raising. Through its women’s counselling centre, the Foundation provides free social, psychological, and legal support to women experiencing violence, while also advocating for stronger policies and monitoring the implementation of mechanisms to combat gender-based violence.

With the grant support of £20,000, the Foundation for Women’s Solidarity will cooperate with Adana Metropolitan Municipality to strengthen the capacity of municipal staff working with women experiencing violence — providing training, supervision, and mentorship so that more women can access free and empowering support services.

We Need to Talk Association was founded by young women determined to break the silence around menstruation and address period poverty in Türkiye. The organisation works to challenge stigma, promote menstrual justice, and improve access to accurate information and sustainable menstrual products.

With the grant support of £18,500, We Need to Talk Association will work with civil society organisations, teachers, students, and parents in Adana to expand access to accurate menstrual health information. Through trainings, school-based awareness sessions, and community activities – including sustainable menstrual product workshops – the project aims to reduce stigma and foster more informed, inclusive school and family environments.

From legal aid and advocacy to counselling and awareness-raising, these efforts help ensure that women can live with dignity, safety, and equal opportunity.
