Founded in Istanbul in 2023 by a youth-led initiative and a multidisciplinary advisory circle, Talebeyiz Biz Association enhances young people’s access to culture and arts. Rooted in inclusivity, anti-discrimination, ecological justice, and youth engagement, the association creates spaces where young people can express themselves, connect with one another, and actively shape cultural life.
After the February 2023 earthquakes, Talebeyiz Biz shifted its focus to Hatay. There, the team identified an important gap: young people were often left out of recovery efforts and had very few spaces to share their experiences or express themselves.
Our Support
With our grant support, Talebeyiz Biz launched the “Art Ambassadors” project, using culture and the arts as tools for healing, connection, and youth-led recovery. Based on needs identified directly by young people, the project brought together workshops in theatre, visual arts, and music, creating a safe and supportive environment for creative expression.
Many participants who initially doubted their abilities began painting, writing poetry, composing music, and performing theatre. Together, they produced 44 artworks, including a theatre play and two original songs, recorded in a newly established youth-led music studio. Their work was shared through exhibitions in Arsuz and DEPO Istanbul, reaching over 3,600 visitors, and carried a powerful message: “We are still here.”
The project engaged 678 participants and trained 11 Art Ambassadors, while establishing two permanent creative hubs in Hatay—a Youth Space and a Music Studio—that continue to serve as places for learning, socialising, and solidarity. Beyond artistic production, the project strengthened young people’s confidence, leadership, and visibility, proving the transformative power of youth-led initiatives in post-disaster contexts.
As one young participant said: “We are still here—creating, growing, and giving back.”
