We are pleased to announce the launch of the Ageing and Caregiver Support Fund, a new thematic fund established to support civil society organisations working to improve the lives of older people and caregivers across Türkiye.
As Türkiye’s population rapidly ages, the need for accessible care services, stronger support systems, and rights-based approaches to ageing is becoming increasingly urgent. At the same time, caregivers — many of whom provide unpaid emotional and physical support to family members — often face significant psychological, social, and financial challenges with limited access to support services.
Through this new fund, we aim to strengthen organisations working directly with older people and caregivers, support active and inclusive ageing, and contribute to more sustainable and community-based care models.
The first grant from the fund, totalling £5,000, has been awarded to the Alzheimer’s Association of Turkey (Türkiye Alzheimer Derneği).
With this support, the association will implement a three-month home-based care project for people living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. Through regular visits by nurses and psychologists, the project aims to improve care quality while reducing the psychological burden on caregivers, particularly families with limited access to health and support services.
We recognise ageing not only as a demographic shift, but as a critical social issue requiring stronger systems, inclusive approaches, and targeted support for both older people and those who care for them. Through this fund, we hope to expand support for grassroots organisations working in this field and contribute to a future where people can age with dignity, independence, and connection.
